James 5:16 – “Confess [your] faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much.”
People keep asking me how I am dealing with things. To be honest I really do not know how to answer this question. I am caught between a rock and a hard place. I have to keep my composure in front of my wife and daughters and I have to keep a professional appearance at work. I feel angry, sad, and scared most of the times but I must continue to be strong for all.
Some days are easier than others. There days when I see my wife struggling just to stay up and some days I see my wife like nothing was ever going on. She is a real strong and stubborn person, I would not have her any other way.
I do not think people are well educated on cancer and the effects it has not only on the person who has cancer but their immediate families as well. I feel cancer is slowly but quietly affecting one too many among us. Maybe it’s because we are going through this, but I feel like every day I turn on the news I hear of someone famous passing away from this terrible disease. We are honored and grateful for all the thoughts and prayers we have received. People have really given us great support.
Some people really do not know what to say when they find out. Most people automatically only assume that cancer comes from smoking cigarettes. It is usually the first question I get. Once I explain to them that this was caused by asbestos then they start asking more about cancer and her treatment.
People give us so many different advice like “don’t eat anything with sugar.” Or “stay away from red meat” mean while our doctors are encouraging us to eat fat foods and to have a milkshake every day if possible. They say this will help her with her energy and if she has surgery a few extra pounds might help her be a little stronger. Some people even tell us to use unconventional medication or natural juices to help eliminate cancer. People really swear by this. We really do appreciate all the advice.
We are living day by day. We are looking for all types of hope in whatever shape or form it comes. The first order of our search is having our faith in God. We now know the devil is a liar and he is everywhere. No weapons formed against us will ever defeat us under the hands of God.
I do not know how I feel or how I am doing. I take things day by day. My wife is my best friend. Without her I will be lost. We know that there is no cure. We still have faith in God. He will keep her alive for a long time for he knows I would not be able to manage the raising of our daughters without her. I have achieved many goals in my life because of the encouragement I get from my wife. She is fighting and no matter what happens I will always honor her. Hey to all my readers or anyone that reads this “if anyone happens to know Marc Anthony” the singer please introduce him to my wife. This has always be her dream.
