The week of October 16th to the 21st
This week started off really hard. We had been told that my wife’s chances of beating this Cancer were low to non-existent. On Monday we had our last appointment with the oncologist at Bronx Lebanon Hospital. We explained to him that we had requested and transfer all of my wife’s medical records to Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. He was not a happy doctor and he became really unprofessional at this time.
On Tuesday the tide started to change. We had received our first appointment to Sloan Kettering Cancer Center. My wife was happy and eager to start in a new place. She worked three days this week. I could see how tired she was when she got home. I could also see how worried she was about the upcoming appointment. I felt guilty that I could not do much to make her feel better. I tried to be comedy gold but kept coming up short. She was just too focused and that memory of our original oncologist just would not go away. “TAKE A LOOK AT THIS VIDEO”
On Thursday we, “THE MIGHTY FAMILY”, went to our first appointment. The second we walked in the staff at Sloan Kettering could not have been more helpful. They helped us fill out any forms that we needed it to fill out and there is a great waiting area for their patients. As we waited to see the doctors I could see my wife was a little nervous and wondering if the doctors was going to give the same results as our previous doctor. To any and all that read this article if possible always look for a second opinion. Please if you can take a risk for your love ones do not settle for an “un-caring doctor”.
A few minutes later we were called to see the surgeon (Dr. Nash) . Once the surgeon came in the office he had a great smile and made us feel right at home. After reviewing my wife’s medical records and asking a few questions he took his time to let us know about his professional background. He said that many patients have lived many years after being treated for the same Cancer my wife has. He gave us new hope. A new lease on life.
One hospital left us for dead and the other hospital gave us new life. We are in high spirits. We are ready to fight. We now have an attack plan made by our doctors. We will start chemo for the next three month’s and then God willing surgery to remove the cancer. Please continue to pray. Do not underestimate the power of prayers. GOD is good. We are strong. The doctors at Sloan Kettering are ready to fight and so are we.
