THE SOUTH BRONX

My wife wrote a Facebook post that has encourage me to write this article

“Some ppl might think I’m stuck up or full of myself because I’m not sociable but I’m not, I’m trying to raise my kids in a manner that they don’t need a bunch of ppl in there lives to be happy or live. And that’s how my business stay out of ppl mouths.feeling content.

I am always writing on how there is so much racism, injustice, and inequality, in this Country but this time I am going to speak on the fact of my beautiful community. On how easy it is for our community to be exploited by media, Hip-hop artist, and Hollywood.

What we fail to see is the damage we are doing to one another. We are killing each other, there is more black on black crimes that should have us all in fear. We live in a community where people try to emulate what they see on TV or in a movie theater, what they hear a rapper say in their lyrics but the reality is that TV, movies, and songs are fictional. Think about this, rapper Tupac did not have a criminal record until he made a record.

In our community people are dying day in and day out for no reason what so ever.

Police: Pregnant woman shot in face after visiting mom in the Bronx.

The victim, who is pregnant, was shot in the face inside a building in the 3600 block of Third Avenue just before 4 a.m. One witness said he heard shots, then screaming.

Bronx dad shot dead while holding baby was victim of gang war:

The Bronx dad who was gunned down while holding his baby girl was the victim of a brutal gang war, the city’s top cop said Wednesday.

Its hard for me to understand why people are not protesting or marching or doing anything to try and prevent these tragedies. If people ever wonder why people out of our community look down at us just read the papers you should get an idea. If we are doing this to one another why would police officers patrolling our community try to treat us any differently than what we are treating ourselves.

As strange as this is going to sound in our community if you have a job and are doing the things you need to do to maintain your family you are consider to be an outsider or an outcast. People like to complain but the reality is that if your not part of the solution you are the problem. My wife and I try our best to teach our daughters that there is a bigger world than just the South Bronx. My wife said “I don’t want people in my business” That is so true as an outcast in our community for having a job people like to talk about you and bring you down. People fall into this cycle and they stay in that cycle. All changes start at home. Like the song goes “its all up to the man/woman in the mirror, make that change”.
